Having been involved for many years in fire rated products, gaining invaluable knowledge and insight into the Composite Fire Door industry, Astraseal could see the requirement for a comprehensive Fire Safety Door package. A start to finish solution backed up by extensive testing to the most onerous standards and certified by industry leading experts.

The package needed to provide a solution from enquiry through survey, design, manufacture and installation and go on to include an opportunity for a maintenance contract. All stages of the process would need to be subject to testing, training programmes and certification to give clients the assurance that every door was backed up with unequivocal evidence proving its performance.

The package also needed to provide this one stop shop solution at a price that could not only compete within the composite Fire Door market but also offer clients huge savings over Fire Doors of other materials, and all of this needed to be available with shorter lead times than the market standards.

Ensuring our doors meet a consistent quality

The Q Mark Certification Scheme by BM Trada provides independent assurance that Astraseal Fire Doors are manufactured to a consistent quality.

Whilst a successful stand alone Fire Door test demonstrates that a door meets the legally acceptable minimum standard, the BM Trada “Q” Mark third party scheme provides proof that our Fire Safety Door range resists the passage of fire, through a programme of research and development backed up by an extensive catalogue of certified test evidence.

As a Q Mark certified manufacturer we are subject to annual audits covering both production and processes as well as regular pre-sampled live testing verified by the industry leading third party certification body, BM Trada.

Investing in an extensive testing programme

Astraseal embarked on an extensive testing programme backed by significant investment to ensure their future fire door sets would be at the very forefront, complying not only to the standards of the time but also future proofing them by testing them all to the more onerous European standard, BS EN1634-1.

Each test subjects two complete fire door sets to the intense and rapid heat build up of a live fire scenario, with one door set installed to open towards the furnace and the other to open away from the furnace, resulting in a true bi-directionally tested fire safety door.

Following a vast amount of tests, 100% passed the required timings, with some exceeding the required times by up to 25 minutes. Bi-directional testing has been successfully completed to BS EN1634-1. Solid and glazed FD30 fire doors have also been tested with a fixed glazed fanlight over the top of the door frame.

Fire Door Range

The range covers three solid FD30 door designs alongside several glazed FD30 options, all available in a choice of colour finishes, hardware and locking configurations, with the ability to incorporate electronic entry systems. All door designs are independently third-party certified, providing confidence in their performance, compliance, traceability and UKCA approved, on selected lines.

Astraseal’s Fire Safety Doors are available as part of a complete survey, supply and install package or on a supply-only basis, subject to installers meeting specific criteria.

Fire Door Furniture Options

Letterbox

A BSI Kitemarked TS008 slimline security letterplate that meets the requirements for strength and durability in line with clause 5.4 and 5.5 of TS008 with 30 mins fire resistance & ambient smoke control testes to EN 1634 standards. With a smooth operating mechanism, concealed fixings and suitable for door sizes between 44mm and 70mm.

Door Closer

Winkhaus overhead door closers are available with slide arm or scissor arm options, delivering reliable fire, smoke and PAS24 security performance. UKCA and CE marked, both EN Size 2-4 closers are accredited for use on our full range of fire doors, under the scopes of the Q mark certification scheme.

Auto lock

The Winkhaus AV2 auto locking mechanism provides automatic locking once the door is closed giving instant security, eliminating the need to lift the handle to engage the locks. A motorised version AV2E, is available as an upgrade to allow connection to access control systems ideal for communal entrances and DDA applications.

Door Knocker

To enhance the appearance and functionality of the door a range of knockers, spy holes and door chains have been tested for compliance and can be factory fitted as required.

Handles

Manufactured in Grade 304 stainless steel, for ultimate strength, finish and security. Includes security fixings and spindles for door thicknesses of 44mm – 70mm. Stainless steel security shroud for added cylinder protection. The 2-Star handle MUST be used in conjunction with a 1-Star cylinder meeting TS007 to ensure 3-Star combined security.

Design Flexibility

Fire Doors by Astraseal can be specified with a range of fire-rated top light and side screen combinations, providing greater flexibility for apartment blocks, communal entrances, commercial buildings and refurbishment projects.

Available with clear or obscure fire-rated glazing, our tested configurations allow you to achieve the desired balance of light, visibility and aesthetics while maintaining FD30 fire performance.

Supply & Install

  • Our fully installed package includes survey, design and installation all managed by ourselves in accordance with the Q Mark certification schemes.
  • Surveys carried out by qualified fenestration surveyors.
  • Full installation by our accredited fitting teams, trained and certified to Q Mark fire door installation scheme STD052.
  • Each installation is recorded onto a database for Q Mark compliance.
  • Optional fire door maintenance package in accordance with the Q Mark scheme STD058

Supply Only

  • Fully certified FD30 Composite Door range available as a supply only package.
  • Each door is supplied with a QR code which when scanned will allow you to access a digital fire door information pack containing full certification, installation and fitting guides.
  • Our optional installation pack contains the sealants, foams, packers and fixings that have all been successfully tested as part of our live fire door testing programme and are included within the certification scopes, everything that you need to fit a fully compliant FD30 composite fire door.
  • Our supply only package can include surveying if needed.

Fire Windows from Astraseal

The system uses intumescent strips, which expand with heat to create a barrier, the enhanced steel reinforcing within the profiles combined with options of fire retardant glass enable the system to offer 30-minute fire rating for integrity only or integrity and insulation.

RAUFERNO the PVCu fire resistant window system, manufactured by Astraseal, fully compliant with current building regulations, having been successfully tested to BS476 Parts 20 and 22. The RAUFERNO PVCu fire resistant window, provides you with all the safety and security of a certified fire rated system with PVCu’s added benefits, improved thermal insulation, sound proofing and excellent security.

The system is ideal where a fire rated window is required including the following areas:
